The Health Equity Internship Program

This internship offers an opportunity to engage with cross-sector partners, apply population health knowledge in real-world settings, and contribute to addressing inequities while advancing measurable improvements in health equity. We work with students, trainees, and professionals who are eager to support HEC Group in working with a variety of organizations to deploy our expertise and capabilities.

Katrina Schlekat

Intern

Katrina Schlekat is an Intern in the Health Equity Internship Program and a driven student pursuing her Master of Public Health in Health Behavior at the Gillings School of Global Public Health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is building robust expertise in qualitative and quantitative research methods, data visualization, and culturally responsive program design.


Her work has focused on advancing health equity in areas such as HIV/AIDS stigma, food access, and mental health. She has designed and led nutrition education courses for children, developed SNAP awareness resources for college food pantries, and conducted research on HIV stigma. Katrina is eager to apply her skills to advance public health solutions that drive measurable improvements in health equity.
